The prescription drug programs link nearly all of the largest retail chains, as well as smaller independent pharmacies, into a common and consistent discount program. Members can obtain discounts of 5% to 30% on average community drug prices through a network of more than 50,000 chain pharmacies.

The prescription drug programs provide savings on both generic and name brand prescriptions. Prescription drug discounts will vary dependent upon the formula used by each chain when establishing both retail prices and average wholesale costs for their products. Also, certain prescriptions are sold as "loss leaders" and the pharmacy's usual and customary charge (retail price) may be lower than the plan discounted price.

When using the prescription drug program, members are assured of the highest quality of care in filling prescriptions for federal and state legend drug items.
